Wildfields Farm is set amongst 10 gorgeous acres in the Otways. We regenerate the soil, grow nutritious chemical-free food, and rescue and adopt farm animals.
As non-Indigenous Australians, we cultivate on unceded Wadawurrang country.
We believe in growing resilient local food systems and fostering community connection.
That's it. Thats us.
At Wildfields Farm, we take a hollistic approach to land stewardship and rely on the ecological principles of regenerative agriculture to grow delicious fruit and veg. We consider the soil, water, plants, animals and humans as interconnected pieces of one whole system. The focus for our growing is on supporting soil microbial life and biodiversity. This means that sometimes in our multispecies growing model the insects are allowed to exist, while waiting for the natural system to balance out.
When you visit, you'll see we use a unique 'nose-till' method of soil regeneration. First passing our mini-piggies, Luna and Neville, over the pasture to shallow till the soil and nom away the weeds. A green manure crop is then sown, grown for a few weeks, then terminated. This fixes nitrogen, sequesters carbon and incorporates organic material back into the soil.
We can already see an incredible difference to the compacted clay soils we started with. The worms and dung beetles have moved in!
At Wildfields Farm, we believe in climate change and are doing our part to mitigate the crisis we, and future generations, are facing.
Our aim is to be as ecologically low impact as possible: avoiding single-use plastic packaging and repurposing where we can.
We proudly run on solar electricity, and only use hand- or battery-operated tools.
